EMU Boots & UGG Boots

You may have heard of UGG boots, and EMU boots may also come to your ears. Well, what is the different between them?
EMU is a kind of large, flightless bird living in Australia and no where else. It is the national bird of Australia. Despite the name, EMU boots has nothing to do with theEMU birds. Not a single part of the boots is from the birds. The only connection between them is that they are ugly in the same way. And besides, the word “UGG” is come from the word “ugly”. Yes, you are right. EMU boots are a kind of UGG boots! In Australia, the word UGG is a generic word instead of a brand name. It represents the kind of boots that are made of twin-face sheepskin with wool inside.
Technical speaking, there are NOT so much difference between those kind of boots. The same material, the same manufacturing, and the same ugliness. All is the same. Except that they are label with different brand names (outside of Australia).
Their prices are of not many differences too. A pair of average UGG boots sells at around $140 and EMU at around $150. Both boots are being sold in Australia, US and Europe. So buying either one won’t be a problem. If you are not a brand follower, then, buy a pair of whichever you feel like. Both boots are of same softness and warmth to the feet.
Now that, they are the same, why there are two names? During the 1980′s Jacksons the parent company of Emu Boots go into partnership with Brian Smith (a surfer from Australia who now lives in Los Angeles) to supply sheepskin boots in the USA. These are supplied under the brand name that is now synonymous with UGG. However, in 1993 UGG Australia is sold to Deckers and this is why in 1994 Jacksons decide to distribute their own brand of boots under the brand name EMU.
EUM boots are relatively young in comparison to UGG as the company only came into being in 1994. That’s why UGG boots are more familiar to you.
